| ![]() In keeping with the wishes of the late Liz Simmonds, her lifetime collection of Science Fiction books (about 1100 volumes) is being made available to SFFSA members for borrowing, and will be designated as the Liz Simmonds Memorial Library. This is about half the size of the large SFFSA Library, but it only partly overlaps, and there are many historic volumes as well as newer ones .In order to keep the collection together, it will continue to be shelved in our house at 33 East Street, East Town, Jo’burg (near Northcliff Corner). So you will need to drop in, as some members already do, in order to browse and borrow books. A simple honour-based issuing system has been put in place: we have stamped every book with the name of the library, and will substitute each borrowed volume by a placeholder card bearing the borrower’s details. Maximum per borrower, 5 books at a time. Trevor Derry - Home phone (011)782-8557 |
